Podcast: Alonzo Bodden

Living in Hollywood and working in the motorcycle industry, you get to meet a lot of celebrities who ride. Some have more money than they know what to do with and just buy the newest bikes on the market. Others only buy custom machines and can’t really tell you much about them except that they look really cool. But there does exist a small percentage of true enthusiasts who happen to be in the spotlight and can intelligently carry on a conversation about motorcycling as a whole. Luckily, we here at The Ride know one such individual and he happily agreed to sit down and talk some shop with us.

“Comedian” and “motorcycle enthusiast” don’t always fit into the same sentence. Then again, Alonzo Bodden is a tall guy, so he probably doesn’t fit into a lot of spaces. Probably best known for winning season 3 of Last Comic Standing, Alonzo is a true working comic. On the road for a large part of the year, he also finds time for television appearances, voiceover work, and hosts his own podcast called Who’s Paying Attention?

But when he’s not making audiences around the country laugh with his sage observational brand of humor, you’ll more than likely find him riding one of his many bikes. Recently Bodden graciously lent us his time, along with his friend Arun Sharma (who just happens to be the General Manager at MotoCorsa in Portland, OR). What followed was a down-to-earth, informative, and often funny take on motorcycling culture and bikes in general.

Take a listen as we explore everything from why people ride Harley-Davidsons, to what we think women riders want, and why we all secretly wish we could be stunt riders.

Enjoy.
